HISTORY
In the spring of 1993, a group of God’s people felt led to establish an independent, biblically based ministry in the Lower Bucks County area. At the same time, Dr. Norman J. Leve, Jr. was on a mission trip thousands of miles away and felt a calling to a new ministry. Dr. Leve was a successful Eastern Pennsylvania United Methodist minister whose commitment to a biblically based, evangelistic, and nurturing ministry had been blessed with dynamic spiritual growth. However, God had new plans for Norman who answered God’s call to change his ministry and accepted the position of Senior Pastor and Administrator of what is now New Life Christian Church.
On August 29, 1993, New Life opened its doors in a renovated warehouse in Newtown. A charter membership class, conducted in October of the same year, received 246 members into the Church Family. We experienced growth in attendance and in ministries, but more importantly, we experienced growth in our faith. This growth called us to pursue a new facility that New Life could call home. The extensive search for a facility led to a piece of property that had been considered when New Life originally opened. On September 6, 1996, after major remodeling, New Life Christian Church moved into 4 Freedom Drive in Newtown.
With a current membership of over 500, New Life Christian Church continues to grow. Adult Bible Studies, music programs, and youth groups for all ages are conducted throughout the year and each summer we have a Summer Family Night ministry and summer camps that include Music & Drama and Vacation Bible School. With the addition of a new kitchen and dining area, we now offer a Wednesday Family Night with dinner and programs for everyone.
A very important aspect of our ministry is our mission program. We support both foreign and domestic missionaries and give support to church members on short-term mission trips.
Another large ministry of the church has been New Life Christian Bookstore. The store has been expanded several times and offers Christian music, books, gifts, and cards.
In response to God’s call, New Life Christian Church will continue to offer some of the finest ministries the Bucks County area has to offer. As we journey together through the years ahead, we as a body will continue to be a beacon of Gods’ love and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those at home and around the world.
